The National Police has arrested a man in Madrid accused of broadcasting live the sexual assaults he allegedly committed against his minor daughter through a live streaming application, obtaining in return virtual coins that he exchanged for popularity and gifts within the platform. The investigation was launched at the end of last November after the reception of an anonymous email on the channel enabled by the Police to report child pornography offenses. From that complaint, agents from the Central Unit for Cybercrime, specialized in child protection, managed to identify the man and arrest him in December.
According to the investigations, the arrested person used private livestreaming rooms to attract interested users, initially showing images of himself and the minor in a bed as bait. Subsequently, and through another connected application via external messaging, he would broadcast the abuses he committed live, in exchange for digital coins that he later exchanged for gifts or visibility boosts within the service.
In the search of his home in Madrid, the agents seized two mobile phones with a large quantity of pornographic material. After being brought to justice as the alleged perpetrator of corruption of minors, production, possession and distribution of child pornography and sexual assault, his entry into provisional prison was decreed.
The National Police has highlighted the importance of citizen collaboration for the detection of cases of this type through confidential reporting channels, which in the last two years have received thousands of notices that have facilitated investigations and arrests related to child pornography offenses
