The spokesperson for Junts in Congress, Míriam Nogueras, has ratified that her parliamentary group will vote against the new royal decree-law of the so-called ‘social shield’, a regulation that contemplates, among other measures, the extension until December 31, 2026, of the eviction moratorium for vulnerable households without housing alternatives when the owner is a large holder or a ‘vulture fund’, as well as the extension of the energy social bonusNogueras has explained that Pedro Sánchez's Executive tried last week to group the revaluation of pensions together with "the issue of squatting" in the same decree, a maneuver that, according to her, was not accepted by her party despite the "blackmail, pressure, and lies" from the Government. "The Spanish Government has had to rectify," she highlighted. However, the Junts leader announced in a video shared on Instagram that, after analyzing "the fine print" of the text, her party will vote against the extension of the anti-eviction moratorium, considering "that it not only does not solve the problem, but it is unfair". With this position, the Executive's decree might not pass in Congress.

“The cost of this social shield, which the so-called Spanish left-wingers boast so much about, is being paid by the small business owner and the neighbors,” the spokesperson criticized. In statements previously released by her party, Nogueras argued that the cost of the eviction moratorium for vulnerable people should be borne by the Government. “If there is money to pay millions of euros to tax inspectors, there must be money to pay those people who really need it,” she stated.

In their opinion, the coalition Executive has had "six years to find a solution" to what they describe as "the problem of occupations," without having been able to "do their homework" in this area. Despite their rejection of the social shield decree, **Junts had already guaranteed its support for the specific royal decree on pensions and has celebrated that the Government has finally agreed to process the revaluation of pensions in a separate regulation.**
