The Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has initiated a sanctioning procedure against Ibai Llanos, the Basque content creator with tens of millions of followers, for a possible serious infringement of the General Audiovisual Communication Law.

The file, opened last February 19, could result in a fine of between €30,000 and €750,000, depending on the seriousness of the infringement and the income associated with the case.

According to what Ibai himself has explained on social media, the investigation would be linked to the presentation of artists at La Velada del Año 2025, where appeared Coca-Cola cans without clearly identifying the content as advertising, something that regulations require for the so-called “users of special relevance” like him.

Ibai has reacted with his characteristic lighthearted tone on his X account, ironically mentioning the President of the Government with the phrase: “How do you do this to a brother?”, after which he also added the hashtag #publi to avoid confusion.

The CNMC has up to 12 months to instruct the file and issue a definitive resolution, during which the creator may present allegations before the fine is set or discarded.
