Cataluña will reinforce this year the control measures during the University Access Tests (PAU) with new anti-copy systems and stricter evaluation criteria. The ordinary call for the Selectividad will be held on June 9, 10 and 11, while the extraordinary one will take place on September 2, 3 and 4, being the only autonomous community that will maintain this call after the summer.
Among the main novelties, the Ministry of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya will allow random checks to be carried out using electronic device detectors to prevent fraud during exams.
As department sources have explained, mobile phones, smartwatches and any other electronic device must remain turned off and stored inside the backpacks during the entire test. The measure will be applied as a pilot test to detect possible attempts of copying.
Cataluña will be one of the communities that will use frequency detectors in this upcoming Selectividad call, following the state harmonization process promoted to unify university access criteria.
Additionally, the new PAU will incorporate changes in the correction of written exams. Starting this year, spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and the lack of coherence may penalize up to 10% of the grade in general subjects and up to 20% in language exams.
With these measures, Education seeks to reinforce control during the tests and to homogenize the evaluation criteria throughout the university system.
