Jonathan Andic has deposited the one million euro bail set by the investigating judge and has been released on provisional liberty this same afternoon, after appearing in the Martorell (Barcelona) courts in relation to the investigation into the death of his father, Isak Andic, founder of Mango.
The judicial decision has occurred after his statement before the magistrate who is investigating a case for alleged homicide, in which the businessman's son has been released under precautionary measures.
Precautionary measures: passport withdrawal and weekly appearances
In addition to the bail, the judge has agreed to the withdrawal of Jonathan Andic's passport, the prohibition from leaving the territory, and the obligation to appear weekly at the judicial headquarters, following the request of the Prosecutor's Office.
The investigated person has remained in judicial premises until the decision became effective, after having been arrested by the Mossos d’Esquadra early in the morning at his home.
Statement before the judge after the arrest
Jonathan Andic arrived at the Martorell courts shortly before noon, handcuffed and escorted by police officers. Subsequently, he declared for almost two hours, responding only to the questions of his lawyer, Cristóbal Martell.
The businessman was first transferred to police premises, where he refused to declare, before being brought before the court.
An investigation that was reactivated a year later
Isak Andic died on December 14, 2024, during an excursion in Montserrat in which he was only accompanied by his son. The first hypothesis pointed to an accidental fall, but the case was reopened months later after new police proceedings.
The Mossos detected alleged contradictions in Jonathan Andic's statements about different aspects of that day, such as the route taken, the exact point of the accident, or details prior to the excursion.
Furthermore, the investigation incorporated the analysis of the businessman's son's mobile phone and other evidence collected in the family environment.
The defense maintains the innocence of the investigated person
Spokespersons from the Andic family's circle have reiterated that Jonathan Andic is innocent and have insisted that there are no and will be no incriminating evidence against him. They have also demanded respect for the presumption of innocence and have assured that his collaboration with the investigation has been “maximum” since the beginning of the process.
