The National Police have arrested a man in Palma, around 40 years old, as the alleged perpetrator of the death of his romantic partner, which occurred in February 2025, almost eleven months after the events and following an investigation that reopened the case upon learning of new forensic data.
The arrest took place this Monday, as reported by the Superior Police Headquarters of the Balearic Islands, and is part of an investigation by the Homicide Unit which, after reviewing the evidence, concluded that the woman's death —then attributed to possible poisoning or natural causes— could have been caused by the intervention of another person.
The victim, around 30 years old, died at his home in Palma in February 2025. Initially, the main police hypothesis pointed to a possible poisoning, but a second autopsy and forensic reports led investigators to consider the involvement of a third party in the incident and to reopen the case.
After several months of investigation, officers managed to locate and arrest **the woman's romantic partner**, accusing him of **homicide**. The detainee remains in police custody awaiting to be brought before the judicial authority, presumably in the coming days
The case has reactivated alarms about gender-based violence and misogynistic crimes, in a context where authorities have already confirmed other violent homicides committed by partners or ex-partners so far this year.
