Moments of maximum tension at the Gran Premio de Catalunya de MotoGP after the spectacular accident suffered by Álex Márquez during this Sunday's race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The Catalan rider had to be evacuated by ambulance and subsequently transferred to the hospital after a violent fall when he was fighting for first position with Pedro Acosta.
The accident occurred on lap 12, when the Murcian rider, who was leading the race, suffered a technical problem in the middle of the back straight. The KTM decelerated abruptly in an area where bikes exceed 300 kilometers per hour, leaving Márquez, who was riding close to his rival, no margin for reaction.
The impact caused the Gresini Racing team rider to be thrown towards the side of the track. After skidding on the grass, he ended up violently hitting the asphalt and the barriers. Medical services quickly attended to him on the circuit before evacuating him to the Montmeló medical center.

According to the first information provided by his entourage, the rider arrived conscious and out of danger. He was then transferred to the Hospital General de Catalunya, in Sant Cugat del Vallès, to undergo more exhaustive tests.
Márquez's bike was completely destroyed and several pieces also impacted other riders, including Fabio Di Giannantonio and Raúl Fernández, who were able to return to the pits on their own feet. Finally, Di Giannantonio ended up taking the victory in a race marked by two red flags and chaos on the track.
The day became complicated again shortly after with a second multiple accident in the resumption of the race, where the Frenchman Johann Zarco also had to be evacuated to the hospital after suffering an injury to his left leg.
