The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has boasted about the performance of the Spanish economy during a rally in Ponferrada (León), within the framework of the pre-campaign in Castilla y León. With a growth of 2.8% and nearly 22 million people employed, the head of the Executive has defended that “Spain is doing better than ever and the opposition is lying as always”.

"When they ask me if it's worth it: it's worth it until 2027 and beyond", stated Sánchez, who reviewed some of the measures promoted this past week by the Government. Among them, the signing on Monday at the Ministry of Labor of a new increase in the Interprofessional Minimum Wage (SMI), which, as he emphasized, will benefit "fundamentally" young people and female workers.

"The employers were missing," lamented the president, alluding to the absence of the CEOE in the agreement, and took the opportunity to ask employers to sit down with unions to raise the "average salaries" of "middle professionals," so that they grow above the cost of living and allow for real purchasing power gains. "That is what we are asking the employers, what the employers were demanding last Monday," he recalled.

Sánchez also highlighted the creation of the ‘España crece’ fund, endowed with 120 billion euros, and addressed the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, whom he accused of having spent years announcing a supposed decline of the country. "The truth of the data shows that Spain is doing better than ever and that the opposition lies as always," he insisted.

The president also defended the management of progressive coalition governments to reduce inequality and recalled that the Council of Ministers approved investigating the "tecnoligarcas" and their platforms for the dissemination of manipulated pornographic content with artificial intelligence that affects women.
