The New Generations (NNGG) of the PP faces one of the most open and competitive congresses of recent years with three candidates already launched into the race to preside over the party's youth organization. Ignacio Dancausa, Antonio Landáburu, and Candela Anglés have begun an intense internal campaign to obtain the necessary endorsements before next June 3 and take over the leadership of the main political quarry of the popular party.
The first to make a move was the Madrilenian Ignacio Dancausa, president of NNGG of Madrid and backed by the political circle of Isabel Díaz Ayuso. With the slogan "Volver a creer" (To believe again), the 25-year-old leader bets on an “integrating” candidacy aligned with the so-called cultural battle promoted by the Madrilenian PP.
A few days later, the Murcian Antonio Landáburu, regional deputy and president of New Generations in Murcia, joined. Under the slogan "Juntos vamos a más" (Together we go further), Landáburu defends an organization “more territorial, more vibrant, and more united,” trying to present himself as a profile capable of cohesing the different internal sensibilities of the party.
The third candidate to enter the scene was the Valencian Candela Anglés, deputy in Les Corts and one of the emerging voices of the Valencian PP. Her campaign revolves around the slogan "Nuestra fuerza" (Our strength) and proposes strengthening the role of young people within the party to boost the arrival of Alberto Núñez Feijóo to La Moncloa.
The three aspirants now have the challenge of gathering at least 250 endorsements, with a minimum of 140 coming from seven different autonomous communities. The collection of support has already become a true test of territorial muscle within the youth organization, which will hold its XVI National Congress in Valladolid next July 10 and 11.
In addition to electing a president, the conclave will debate a political paper and another on statutes that will mark the ideological roadmap of New Generations at a time when the PP seeks to regain ground among the youth vote against the growth of Vox in that age group.
From the national leadership of the PP they assure that there will be no “interference” nor official candidate from Génova and they defend that this internal competition will serve for young leaders to learn to negotiate, pact, and build political agreements. Feijóo's objective, they explain from the party, is to turn the congress into an opportunity to attract young talent and reinforce the presence of the PP in universities and new spaces for youth mobilization.
