The Secretary General of the Popular Party, Miguel Tellado, has lashed out at the coalition formed by Sumar, Izquierda Unida, Catalunya en Comú, and Más Madrid for the upcoming general elections, which he defined as “a reality show of the left.”
During his speech at the PP's Local Congress in Oviedo, Tellado made a sarcastic remark about the name of the platform led by the alternative left and suggested that, instead of calling itself Sumar, it should adopt another name more in line with its situation, such as "Flotar" (To Float).
In a critical tone, the popular leader compared the internal struggle of the progressive bloc to a television contest and assured that “whoever wins the Supervivientes of the extreme left, the end will be the same”. In his opinion, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and his partners “will end up in the same sinkhole”.
Tellado also maintained that Spain is going through a stage of institutional wear and tear, with “a Government playing the garbage minutes,” which he accused of not managing and of acting, in practice, as if it were in office.
Finally, he again attacked Sánchez's mandate, reproaching him for not having advanced relevant initiatives that do not imply—as he said—concessions to the most radical parties in Parliament, and assured that the members of the so-called “Frankenstein Government” are more focused on the post-Sanchismo scenario than on current management.
