The singer and actress Selena Gomez has shaken social media this time by activating on her Instagram profile a striking feature called “Secret Friends”. The tool appears in her stories with a mysterious yellow circle, something that has unleashed curiosity and bewilderment among millions of followers.

Many users initially thought it was a secret version of the list of “Best friends”, which normally appears marked in green, which was how the circle appeared if you didn't update the app. However, the new option seems to offer an even more exclusive space, generating the feeling that only a very small group of people can access that content, but the reality is that it has included all its followers (415 million, to be exact)
The appearance of this feature quickly caused all kinds of theories on social media, with followers wondering if they were part of that supposed secret circle of the artist. The mystery quickly went viral, multiplying comments and screenshots, and some consider it an option that the social network seems to be activating for accounts with millions of followers.
In reality, the initiative seems to be part of a promotional strategy linked to the podcast Friends Keep Secrets, driven by the music producer and her husband, Benny Blanco. Which would be a "subliminal" way to direct her followers towards the podcast content while maintaining the aura of exclusivity.

For her part, the artist has taken advantage of this space to share personal photographs and unreleased moments, something that has further increased the anticipation among her fans, although she recently said in a video uploaded in said space that "this feature is very fun (...) but it won't be forever".
For now, “Secret Friends” is not available to the rest of users, as it seems to be an exclusive test. Even so, the experiment has already achieved what it was looking for: to turn Selena Gomez's profile into one of the most commented topics of the moment on Instagram.
