The hantavirus crisis continues to generate enormous political and media tension in Spain. Amidst the debate over the arrival in Canarias of the cruise ship affected by the outbreak, Julia Otero starred this Saturday in one of the most forceful editorials of recent days from the microphones of Julia en la Onda, the program she hosts on Onda Cero.
The journalist defended the health operation deployed by the Spanish authorities and vindicated the European health system's capacity to respond to an international emergency. During her intervention, Otero recalled that Europe has “the best health systems in the world” and described as “an essential act of solidarity” the decision to receive the ship affected by the outbreak in Spanish territory. Furthermore, she highlighted that Canarias has become the first safe port for the cruise passengers, among whom are Spanish citizens.

However, the hardest moment of her editorial came when addressing the criticisms launched from PP and Vox against the Executive of Pedro Sánchez. The communicator assured that it “makes her blush and infuriates her in equal measure” that this health crisis is also being used as a political weapon. “Those who alarm, scare, muddy and generate social anxiety in this situation are irresponsible, petty and, above all, unpatriotic”, Otero sentenced in statements that quickly went viral on social media and rekindled the political confrontation around the hantavirus.
