This morning, the Rodalies service in Catalonia has once again suffered interruptions after two technical failures in Adif's Centralized Traffic Control Center (CTC) in Barcelona, which manages the signaling and traffic of commuter and regional trains. The first outage occurred around 7:10 AM, when an error in the control systems forced a complete halt in circulation for several minutes for safety reasons, according to sources from Renfe and Adif. Shortly after, around 8:06 AM, a second system failure was recorded which also temporarily paralyzed the Rodalies network before being resolved by techniciansAlthough the failures only lasted a few minutes and rail traffic was progressively being restored, delays and disruptions extended to several lines, generating delays and complications for travelers during the morning rush hour. These new incidents add to the list of recent problems on the same infrastructure that have repeatedly affected the service in recent days, which has led to offering road alternatives on some sections and continuous work by Renfe, Adif, and the authorities to try to recover operational normality, especially during morning rush hours.
Citizen frustration
The repeated problems in Rodalies are generating frustration among users, who have been facing cancellations, disruptions, and delays for weeks without a clear normalization of the service, causing tension among passengers.
From the institutional point of view, transport officials acknowledge that there is still no concrete date for the complete normalization of the service, and that the necessary inspections and corrections are taking longer than expected.
