The campaign for the Andalusian regional elections of May 17 begins to take shape this Thursday, April 30, with the first events of the main candidates, although officially it will not start until 00:00 hours on Friday May 1. The day marks the beginning of an intense electoral race that will last until May 15, with a day of reflection scheduled for the 16th.

The president of the Junta de Andalucía and candidate of the Partido Popular de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, will open the campaign in Sevilla with an event scheduled at 8:30 p.m. in the Murillo Gardens, next to the monument to Cristóbal Colón. Moreno, who is seeking re-election, heads the popular list for the province of Málaga.

Also in Seville, the candidate of the coalition Por Andalucía, Antonio Maíllo, will star in his opening event at 19:00 hours in the Alameda de Hércules. The coincidence of both leaders in the Andalusian capital turns Seville into one of the political epicenters of this first day.

For her part, the candidate of the PSOE, María Jesús Montero, has chosen Granada to start her campaign. The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Hotel Abades Nevada Palace, in a key city for the socialists in the electoral dispute.

In Cádiz, the candidate for Vox, Manuel Gavira, will open the campaign at 20:00 hours with an event in front of the headquarters of the Subdelegation of the Government. Gavira heads the list for this province, where the party seeks to consolidate its growth.

Finally, the candidate of Adelante Andalucía, José Ignacio García, has opted for Málaga for his electoral kick-off. His event will be held at 20:30 hours on the esplanade of the bridge of the Museum of Contemporary Art, thus completing a campaign map that distributes prominence among Sevilla, Granada, Cádiz and Málaga on this first key day.
