The project for the new Regional Hospital of Cádiz has taken a decisive step after its official presentation by the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno. The future healthcare complex, conceived as one of the largest infrastructures in the province, will be built on a plot of 20,450 square meters, will have 12 floors and will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, among which 25 robotic and hybrid operating rooms stand out.

The initiative comes after the signing of an agreement between the Cádiz City Council, the Free Trade Zone Consortium and the Junta, which will assume the financing, the drafting of the project and the execution of the works. In fact, the regional budget for 2026 already includes an initial allocation of 10 million euros. During the presentation, Moreno highlighted the relevance of the project for the healthcare system of Cádiz: "What we are presenting is, in itself, the future of healthcare in Cádiz. The leap in quality that has been demanded for a long time. A new modern hospital adapted to new forms of hospitalization, and which is projected at three levels: care, teaching and research."

The future hospital will have 782 beds —682 designated for hospitalization— in individual rooms, in addition to 50 places in the adult ICU and about 330 consultations. It will incorporate an advanced surgical area with hybrid and robotic technology, along with differentiated services such as Radiodiagnosis, Laboratory, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiotherapy. It will also have a parking lot with capacity for about 2,400 vehicles and a built area that will be around 220,000 square meters.

Regarding its care portfolio, it will include day hospitals, major outpatient surgery, home hospitalization, telemedicine, digital hospital and care for chronic diseases, thus reinforcing a broader and technologically advanced healthcare model.

Moreno has insisted on the strategic nature of the project: "In short, the new hospital is not just another infrastructure. It will be the spearhead towards the transformation of the care model we are heading towards. A commitment to a more modern, resolute, human model, and prepared for the future of Andalusian public healthcare. The future Regional Hospital of Cádiz will be the vanguard of an evolved public healthcare model, a child of our time and our technological capabilities but which at no time loses its raison d'être and its true priority: to offer the patient the best possible treatment and service".
