More than 400 people participated this Tuesday, May 12, in Seville in the first event of the initiative 'Stop the far-right', promoted by FACUA-Consumidores en Acción. The meeting opened a campaign that the association will take during the coming weeks to different large cities.
The event featured the intervention of the general secretary of FACUA, the journalist Rubén Sánchez, alongside the jurist and anthropologist Javier Aroca, the journalist Mercedes de Pablos and Pilar del Río, journalist, president of the José Saramago Foundation and of the association Action against Hate.
The meeting was organized with the collaboration of the Red de Activistas de Sevilla. Its spokesperson, Antonio Rodrigo Torrijos, former first deputy mayor of the city, opened the event together with the president of FACUA Sevilla, Rocío Algeciras.
FACUA proposes this initiative as a public debate space against the advance of reactionary discourses, with voices from politics, culture, journalism, and civil society. The organization seeks to bring the debate to different cities through events open to the public.
The next meeting will take place on Thursday, May 21, at 8:00 p.m., at the Ateneo de Madrid. Participating in it will be minister Óscar Puente, political analyst Sarah Santaolalla, former vice president Pablo Iglesias and Rubén Sánchez. The event can also be followed live through the FACUA website.
