The start of the second day of the investiture debate in the Andalusian Parliament has been marked by the continuity of contacts between the Popular Party and Vox, in a scenario that remains open just hours before the vote.
Moreno, upon his arrival at the autonomous chamber, acknowledged that conversations with Santiago Abascal's party remain active, though without progress compared to previous days. According to him, the state of dialogue remains “the same,” with no relevant changes in the position of either party. From Vox, the message has been similar. Its parliamentary spokesperson, Manuel Gaviria, confirmed that contacts are still underway, although he insisted that his group's priority is to reach an agreement they consider “good for Andalusia.” “We are still negotiating,” he said before entering Parliament.
In this context, the investiture session progresses with the first vote scheduled for this afternoon, awaiting the necessary support for Moreno's reelection at the head of the Andalusian Government.
Moreno focuses his speech on stability and calls for political agreement
The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, opened this Monday the investiture debate in the Andalusian Parliament with which he aspires to be reelected at the head of the autonomous Government. In his speech in Seville, Moreno defended the need to reach political agreements that guarantee institutional stability in the community, in a context in which his party is two seats short of an absolute majority. He asked Vox "to act with intelligence and generosity to facilitate Andalusia's progress" arguing that “it is about knowing how to yield in search of the general interest of Andalusians.”
Moreno claimed his electoral victory as “resounding and unappealable” and stressed that the election result leaves a clear panorama in which, in his opinion, there are only two options: advance through agreements or enter a situation of political and institutional blockade. Among the priorities of his future mandate, he highlighted the approval of the community's budgets "in due time and form," with the aim that the 2027 accounts can come into force from the beginning of the fiscal year. In that vein, he pointed out the importance of defining the structure of the new Government as soon as possible.
The acting president has also referred to the rest of the parliamentary forces, whom he has reproached for their refusal to dialogue, considering that they have opted for blocking instead of facilitating the formation of government after the electoral result, "PSOE, Adelante and Por Andalucía have opted for blocking" he pointed out. "Whether there are elections or a legislative pact, their current irresponsibility makes them responsible for the future"
The candidate has indicated that he will do "everything possible" to achieve agreements that extend to all political forces, with the intention of building "the broadest possible consensuses." He added that he assumes "with responsibility and enthusiasm" the objective of giving continuity to what he has defined as a period of "stability, reforms and honesty" in his previous mandate.
