Andalusia closed July with 526,862 unemployed people, the lowest figure recorded since December 2007, after reducing unemployment by 9,661 people during the last month. While unemployment increased in Spain as a whole by 19,517 people, the Andalusian community once again positioned itself as the territory with the best performance in the labor market.
The data published this Tuesday reflect that Andalusia was the autonomous community that contributed most to the reduction of unemployment during the last year. In the last twelve months, unemployment decreased by 63,993 people, which represents almost seven out of every ten fewer unemployed people registered in all of Spain during that period.

The services sector once again concentrated most of the improvement in employment, followed by industry, agriculture, and the group of people without previous employment. Construction was the only activity that registered an increase in unemployment. Furthermore, the fall in unemployment occurred in all eight Andalusian provinces, with Cádiz, Seville, and Malaga leading the decline in both monthly and year-on-year terms.
The community also reached a new historical high of self-employed workers, with 602,442 affiliates to RETA, consolidating the national leadership it has maintained since May 2021. In contrast, Social Security affiliation decreased slightly during July by almost 7,000 contributors, although compared to a year ago, Andalusia adds more than 106,000 affiliates, a growth higher than that registered by the country as a whole.
