Juanma Moreno announces a plan to expand cancer screenings in Andalusia: more investment and more professionals

The president of the Board highlights the importance of prevention and early detection during his intervention at the Congress of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Andalusia

The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has announced the implementation of new measures to expand and improve cancer screening programs in the autonomous community, with the aim of strengthening prevention and detecting the disease in early stages. He has stressed that, since 2019, the investment in oncological equipment has multiplied by five, which represents an increase of 128 million, and that the staff of healthcare professionals has doubled dedicated to the care of people with cancer, 405 compared to 220 in 2018.

Moreno has made this announcement during his intervention at the Congress of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in Andalusia, where he has highlighted the fundamental role of research, awareness and prevention in the fight against this disease.

The Andalusian president has indicated that the autonomous Government will try to promote health policies that allow to improve the early detection of different types of cancer, expanding the coverage of screening programs and facilitating the access of the population to these tests.

Likewise, he has highlighted the importance of collaboration between public institutions, healthcare professionals, and social entities such as the AECC to advance in research and improve patient care.

Moreno has also reiterated the commitment of the Junta de Andalucía with the development of strategies that allow improving the quality of life of people affected by cancer and advancing in its prevention.
