Juanma Moreno inaugurated this Monday in Jerez de la Frontera the new Esperanza de la Yedra Health Center, a healthcare infrastructure called to mark a change in Andalusian primary care. The center will be the first in Andalusia equipped to handle certain minor surgical interventions without hospital admission, especially in areas such as eyes and skin, which will allow resolving procedures close to the patient and avoiding unnecessary travel to reference hospitals.
The project has involved an investment of 9.5 million euros and recovers for healthcare use the old Díez-Mérito building, located in the center of Jerez and abandoned for years. Moreno highlighted that Andalusia now has “a new, unique, pioneering, and benchmark health center in primary care due to its service portfolio and cutting-edge technology.” He also emphasized the urban value of the action, by transforming a degraded building into a public space dedicated to the health of residents.
The opening is part of the healthcare Renove Plan deployed by the Andalusian Government, which between 2019 and 2025 totals nearly 2.9 billion euros in investments. According to data provided by the Junta, Andalusia already has 116 new healthcare infrastructures, including 34 health centers, seven hospitals, 15 Day Hospitals, 20 clinics, and 23 Early Care Centers. “Each work or new center is another step on the path towards an Andalusian public healthcare system that is an example of transformation in Spain,” Moreno defended.
