The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has announced the approval of the opinion on water in the European Committee of the Regions, an initiative focused on strengthening European policies related to the management of water resources. The Andalusian leader celebrated the agreement after the vote, highlighting that it is a relevant advance for regions facing problems of drought and water scarcity.
During the video disseminated on social media, Moreno explained that the approval of the opinion is “something very important,” as it allows placing on the European agenda the need to address water from a territorial perspective. As he pointed out, Europe is a “complex and diverse” space, where climatic and geographical realities are very different.
The Andalusian president stressed that the document seeks to promote concrete measures to improve water planning, sustainability, and cooperation between regions. In this regard, he defended that European institutions take into account the particularities of territories especially affected by drought.
Moreno concluded by highlighting that the approval of the opinion represents a step to advance in common solutions within the European Union and encouraged the regions to work together to face the water challenges in the future.
