The president of the PP of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, highlighted this Sunday the increasingly relevant role of women in the development of the community on the occasion of International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8. During his speech at the event “They change Andalusia”, organized by the party and attended by more than 1,500 people, he defended that the future of the region involves fully leveraging female talent.

Moreno highlighted that women are playing a decisive role in the present of Andalusia and also in its future projection. In his opinion, the community will only be able to achieve its great goals if "all the talent, energy, and capacity" of Andalusian society is fully integrated, especially that of its women.

The popular leader explained that this meeting is not limited to the commemoration of 8M, but aims to serve to recognize and make visible the female contribution in all areas of Andalusian society. In that sense, he assured that the advances that Andalusia is experiencing are the result of the joint effort of all citizens.

However, he also recognized that inequalities still exist that must continue to be reduced. He pointed out that areas such as education, the labor market, or work-life balance continue to pose challenges, although he insisted on the importance of highlighting the progress made and the potential of the community. For Moreno, Andalusia has "very valuable" women, whose intelligence, strength, and commitment contribute to improving society.

During the event, the awards of the seventh edition of “They Change Andalusia” were presented, with which the party recognizes outstanding careers of Andalusian women. The president of the Andalusian PP affirmed that the award winners represent stories and experiences that serve as inspiration and reflect the talent and energy present in the community.

In his speech, Moreno highlighted that many of these women have managed to make their way in diverse sectors and, in some cases, traditionally masculinized ones. For this reason, he encouraged to continue promoting female leadership and for women to continue contributing their vision and sensitivity to build new paths in society.

The Andalusian president also wanted to back his message with data which, he pointed out, reflect significant advances. Among them, he highlighted that since 2018 there are 315,000 more women working in Andalusia and that more than half of the new self-employed registered in 2025 were women.

In addition, she pointed out that more than 220,000 women currently manage small and medium-sized businesses in the community, which demonstrates —according to her words— that “women are leading entrepreneurship.” She also mentioned that Andalusia has more than 181,000 businesswomen and that female presence in companies has grown 7.5 points in the last seven years.

For Moreno, the increase in female leadership in the economic and business sphere is key for the future of the region. “I want women leading in decision-making positions,” he stated, convinced that this prominence will be fundamental to continue driving the social and economic progress of Andalusia.
