The candidate for Por Andalucía, Antonio Maíllo, has rejected the face-to-face scheduled for next May 4 on RTVE between the president of the Junta de Andalucía and PP candidate, Juanma Moreno, and the PSOE candidate, María Jesús Montero, considering that this format limits the political debate in the community.
Maíllo defended that “if they want a duel, Andalusia is not a ring”, opting instead for a broader and more plural debate that includes more political forces. In this regard, he raised the possibility that RTVE organize a three-way meeting.
The leader of Por Andalucía stressed that limiting the debate to a confrontation between PP and PSOE means “reducing the Andalusian political reality”, insisting that there are more relevant actors who must have a voice in a pre-election context.
Likewise, Maíllo defended the role of public media as an ideal space for this type of debate, explicitly proposing RTVE as a platform to guarantee “neutrality” and greater representativeness.
