The singer Manuel Carrasco and the actress Paz Vega will be the Favorite Sons of Andalusia in 2026, the highest distinction awarded by the regional administration in recognition of extraordinary merits and services for the benefit of the region.
The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, announced the news this Sunday on his X account, stating that "they are the example of Andalusia that perseveres until fulfilling their dreams". Carrasco, known for his constant nods to Andalusia in his songs, will perform the Anthem of Andalusia at the gala on February 28th.

For her part, Paz Vega has developed a distinguished career as an actress, director, and producer, working with prestigious filmmakers such as Pedro Almodóvar, Emilio Martínez-Lázaro, or Vicente Aranda. In 2002 she received the Goya Award for best new actress for her role in Sex and Lucia.
Furthermore, she has been recognized with the Carmen Award 2025 for Best Direction for Rita, which earned her a nomination for the Goya for Best New Director; the Luz Award at the 50th Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival (2024); and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Award for Latin Cinema at the 65th San Sebastián Film Festival (2017). Previously, she received the Medal of Andalusia (2011), the Gold Medal of the Province of Seville (2010), and was named Favorite Daughter of Seville in 2023.
