Juanma Moreno, attended this Friday the Saca de las Yeguas, one of the oldest livestock traditions in the community, with more than five centuries of history. The celebration brings together more than 1,500 specimens that travel the streets of the village of El Rocío until their passage through the Sanctuary, where they receive the blessing of the Virgin.
The celebration, which takes place every year at the end of June in the village of El Rocío, brings together more than 300,000 visitors and has consolidated itself as one of the main events on the Huelva calendar. In addition to its festive and livestock dimension, it seeks to raise awareness about the conservation and protection of the Doñana National Park and its biodiversity.
The president of the Junta also highlighted the symbolic, cultural and economic value of the festival, emphasizing its link with livestock activity and its role in revitalizing the area. "Our commitment to it is unquestionable for all that it symbolizes: tradition, culture, devotion," he added. In turn, he called for the preservation and protection of Andalusian traditions as an essential part of the territory's identity and cited this celebration as an example of its historical roots.
