Representatives of Podemos are negotiating this Holy Thursday in Seville with Izquierda Unida and Sumar their possible integration into the coalition Por Andalucía to run in the regional elections on May 17.
The conversations are held with discretion and without public details about time or place, one day before the deadline to register coalitions, set until 23:59 on Good Friday. In the negotiation also participate Andalusian People's Initiative and the Green Party.
According to sources from one of the parties, the contacts are being developed with "maximum reserve" to prevent a possible agreement from being compromised. The decision on the integration of Podemos into the lists is made in a context of tight deadlines.
The Podemos militancy supported the opening of these negotiations in a 24-hour express consultation, in which 81.4% of the participants voted in favor. The party's general secretary, Ione Belarra, thanked the participation of “almost 6,000 registered members”.
Should an agreement be reached, Podemos would run within the Por Andalucía candidacy, unlike what happened in the 2022 elections, when it did not arrive in time for the registration of the coalition and its candidates integrated as independents.
In the Andalusian elections of 2022, the candidacies linked to IU, Podemos and the current political space obtained five seats in the Andalusian Parliament: three from Podemos, one from IU and one from the space now represented by Sumar.
