The PSOE of Andalusia has filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Electoral Board of Andalusia due to the appearance of fake posters directed against socialist candidacies ahead of the regional elections next Sunday, May 17. The party considers it an “anonymous, misleading and deliberately manipulative” campaign deployed in an organized manner in several Andalusian provinces.
The posters appeared on Wednesday in cities such as Córdoba, Seville, Cádiz, Huelva and Jaén and showed images of socialist leaders such as María Jesús Montero, Pedro Sánchez or Susana Díaz accompanied by ironic or critical messages. From the PSOE, they believe that the simultaneous dissemination in different capitals points to a coordinated strategy to demobilize the progressive electorate.
In Córdoba, former mayor Isabel Ambrosio had already reported to the Zone Electoral Board the appearance of posters with her image alongside messages such as “Without Ambrosio we don't go” or “Let them vote for you in Fuenteovejuna”. The socialist leader also asked to preserve the video surveillance recordings of the affected areas to try to identify those responsible for placing the posters.
The regional complaint bears the signature of the Secretary of Organization of the Andalusian PSOE, Francisco Rodríguez, who maintains that the temporal, graphic, and territorial coincidence of the events “excludes any hypothesis of isolated action”. Socialists believe that behind the campaign there could be a covert political propaganda operation or even possible opaque financing mechanisms.
In the document submitted to the Electoral Board, the party also warns of an alleged strategy of “emotional manipulation” specifically aimed at socialist and progressive voters. According to the PSOE, the messages used exploit internal tensions and recognizable political references in Andalusia with the aim of generating confusion or electoral disaffection in the middle of the campaign.
