An 18-year-old young man has lost his life early this morning in Manacor (Mallorca) after the ceiling of the room where he was sleeping suddenly collapsed, as reported by emergency services. The incident occurred around 5:12 AM in a house on Sant Francesc street, when the upper floor slab —which supported a flat roof— gave way and trapped the two brothers.

The younger brother, aged 12, also became trapped under the rubble and was attended to at the scene by paramedics from SAMU 061 before being transferred to the Hospital Universitari Son Espases in Palma, where he remains admitted with serious injuries, as stated.

The firefighters of Mallorca, along with personnel from the Manacor and Llucmajor stations, responded to the emergency and collaborated in the rescue efforts, although they were unable to save the life of the older youth, who was found lifeless among the remains of the structure.

Meanwhile, the parents of the two siblings, who were sleeping in another room, **were not injured** and are being attended to by psychological professionals

Police have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the collapse, and municipal technicians are working to assess the condition of the building to determine if there were any structural problems that caused the collapse.

The Manacor City Council has expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased young man and has conveyed its full support to the residents affected by this tragedy.
