La Palma has begun to partially recover its electricity supply after the energy blackout recorded shortly before 6:45 AM, but normality is still far off: Endesa estimates that 8,117 customers have already been restored and 42,391 are still pending recovery.

The electricity company specifies that several groups are already coupled at the Los Guinchos power plant and that Red Eléctrica de España is finishing repairing the high-voltage line that had been inoperative since 4:10 AM.

Recovery advances, but the system remains under tension

The Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, through Ángel Víctor Torres, has said that it remains "attentive" to the evolution of the energy blackout on the island and the meteorological conditions in the Canary Islands. In a message on the social network X, the minister assured that the Government of Spain maintains contact with the authorities and the regional executive.

The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, in application of the Territorial Emergency Plan for Civil Protection of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (Plateca), declared a state of alert throughout La Palma after the general failure of the electrical system.

According to the Canarian Government, the total power cut occurred at 6:42 AM, when the island completely lost electricity. The episode adds to an already complicated day due to the weather.

Extreme rains and maximum alert since early morning

Since 2:00 AM, La Palma has also been on maximum alert for rain, after convective activity developed with notable intensity in the east of the island.

In that area, accumulations of up to 62 liters per square meter in one hour and 138 liters in 12 hours have been recorded, figures that keep attention on the evolution of the storm while the restoration of electricity service continues.
