The elections of Castilla y León that were held this Sunday have given victory to the candidate of the Popular Party, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, who has obtained 33 seats, improving his results from four years ago. However, the popular party has not managed to reach an absolute majority, so they will need to negotiate with Vox to govern.

The socialist candidate, Carlos Martínez, has achieved 30 procurators, two more since the last elections. In this context, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has conveyed his congratulations to the popular one and has shown his support for Martínez. Through a message he published on his X profile, he stated: “Congratulations to Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, for his result in these elections. Pride in Carlos Martínez and the PSOE of Castilla y León, who have shown that our party is the only alternative for change in Castilla y León. We will continue working for the future of all men and women".

On the other hand, while candidate Carlos Pollán from the far-right party, Vox, has positioned himself as the third force in the community -gaining one more representative compared to the previous legislature- Podemos, IU-Sumar, and Ciudadanos disappear from the community.

Rufián reacts to the disappearance of the left

The President of the Government has not been the only one to speak out after the electoral results in Castilla y León. Thus, the spokesperson for ERC, Gabriel Rufián, has used his social network X to recall his attempt to carry out a new left-wing coalition. "0 seats to the left of the PSOE. Not doing something (or doing the usual) is pure negligence," he published.
