The tension between the organization Hazte Oír and the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has erupted in the midst of the election campaign in Castilla y León. Last early morning, Palencia has woken up covered in posters demanding more forceful pro-life measures from Vox, intensifying a confrontation that had already been evident in recent public events.
The escalation occurs after the tension experienced during an event starring Abascal, where activists linked to Hazte Oír reproached the leader for what they consider an “inaction” in the repeal or modification of abortion legislation. The trigger has been a poster disseminated by the organization in which the president of Vox is directly accused of not having materialized his electoral promises in this matter.
On Monday, Hazte Oír presented its so-called “Brigade for Life”, a deployment composed of a bus, several trucks with LED screens and vans emblazoned with Abascal's face along with the message: “Abascal, abortion kills; your inaction too”. The campaign includes images of fetuses, the phrase “100,000 silenced heartbeats each year” and the graphic representation of an electrocardiogram that evokes the so-called “fetal heartbeat”, an initiative that Vox defended at the time in Castilla y León and later withdrew.
One day later, the offensive has moved to street-level activism. Dozens of posters have appeared in different parts of Palencia, reinforcing the message of direct pressure on the party. The images have circulated rapidly on social media, feeding the internal debate in the conservative space and evidencing the fracture between both organizations.
