The tension between the far-right Vox and the organization Hazte Oír has escalated in Castilla y León on the third day of the pro-life campaign promoted by the citizen collective. The initiative seeks to demand from the leader of the party, Santiago Abascal, “real and verifiable measures” in defense of the unborn and denounces what it considers an “inaction” on the part of the party.
Hazte Oír assures that the day has been marked by a notable increase in police presence in different localities of the community, as well as by new identification requests directed not only at volunteers, but also at workers and drivers of the so-called “Motorized Brigade for Life”, the mobile device that articulates the campaign.
The organization maintains that it is a “civic and peaceful” campaign and that, despite this, pressure has intensified in recent hours. The offensive began on Monday with the launch of a caravan made up of a bus, three trucks with LED screens and half a dozen vans, which travel through different points of Castilla y León with critical messages towards Abascal and Vox.
Since then, the collective has deployed various social mobilization actions: massive poster postings, distribution of thousands of leaflets with a voting guide —both by hand and through letterboxing—, presence in public events and placement of banners on bridges. The common slogan of the campaign is: “Abascal, abortion kills; your inaction, too”.
According to the organization, a group of unknown individuals threw mud balls at the pro-life vehicle, without any personal injuries being reported. Despite what they describe as “coercion” and “intimidation”, the promoters have maintained the planned deployment and have reinforced the campaign in Palencia with a large vinyl sticker placement.
