The campaign by the Hazte Oír association against the far-right party Vox has burst into the regional pre-campaign of Castile and León, generating an intense political debate and a notable stir on social media, especially on X. The initiative seeks to pressure the party led by Santiago Abascal to adopt pro-life measures “real, verifiable, and in writing,” which has provoked public responses from various officials of the party and numerous questions from users who question the distance between the discourse and the political decisions adopted. Among the most repeated messages is the criticism that the party maintains “many words, but no actions.”
The actions started in Valladolid with the presentation of the so-called “Brigade for Life”, a caravan composed of a bus, trucks with LED screens, and several vans that travels through different towns in the community during the campaign. The bus displays Abascal's face alongside the slogan “Abascal, abortion kills; your inaction too”. The vehicle also incorporates images of fetuses, the phrase “100,000 silenced heartbeats every year” and an electrocardiogram in reference to the proposal of the so-called “fetal heartbeat”, a measure that Vox defended at the time in Castilla y León and that it finally ended up withdrawing.
Following the launch of the caravan, Hazte Oír has intensified its social mobilization actions in different parts of the territory. The organization has deployed banners on bridges, carried out massive poster campaigns, and distributed thousands of leaflets with a voting guide prepared for this campaign, both through direct distribution and through mail drops. In recent days, initiatives have been registered in localities such as La Bañeza and Ponferrada, among others, where the posters reproduce the central message of the campaign and convey a direct demand to the party on the street: clear and written pro-life commitments.
From Hazte Oír they assure that the objective of the campaign is to inform and demand coherence from Vox regarding its public discourse on the defense of life. According to the organization, the impact achieved on social networks confirms that the initiative has managed to place the debate on abortion at the center of the political discussion during the regional pre-campaign and has forced the far-right formation to respond publicly to the criticisms and demands raised from civil society.
