The inconsistencies of Vox once again place the party at the center of controversy in Castilla y León. This time it has not been the left who has focused on its contradictions, but one of the most active organizations in the pro-life sphere, Hazte Oír, which has decided to publicly point out what it considers an “evident inaction” by the party led by Santiago Abascal.
The association has put into circulation in Valladolid the so-called ‘Brigade for Life’, a caravan composed of a bus, several trucks with LED screens and vans that will travel through the provinces of the community during the coming weeks. The objective is clear: to demand that the far-right party Vox be consistent with its ideology and defend “life” with concrete measures and not only with public statements.
The main bus shows Abascal's face next to the message “Abascal, abortion kills; your inaction too”, accompanied by images of fetuses and the figure “100,000 silenced heartbeats every year”, in reference to the annual number of abortions in Spain. The design also includes an electrocardiogram as a direct nod to the “fetal heartbeat” proposal that Vox defended in Castilla y León and subsequently withdrew, generating criticism among its own more conservative electorate.
From Hazte Oír they maintain that the withdrawal of that measure evidenced a lack of political firmness. “The inaction of Abascal's party in the pro-life sphere is evident”, they affirm, stressing that their initiative does not seek to ask for votes for any specific option, but rather to “inform” citizens about what they consider “the reality of Vox”.
The campaign aims to exert constant and visible pressure throughout the community to prevent voters from being able to claim ignorance. As explained by Miguel Tomás, Campaigns Director of the association, “if politicians do not commit in writing today to the values of their voters, then they will not be able to complain about being demanded or punished at the polls.”
In summary, this organization's offensive places Vox in an uncomfortable scenario: questioned from the left for its ideological postulates and now also challenged from ultraconservative positions that reproach it for not having gone far enough.
