Total tension between Hazte Oír and Abascal: the leader of the far-right Vox sees the poster in which he is accused of “inaction” by reminding him of his unfulfilled promise regarding abortion

The tension between Hazte Oír and the leader of the far-right Santiago Abascal, president of Vox, has erupted in the middle of the campaign in Castilla y León. The trigger: a poster in which the leader is accused of “inaction” for not having materialized his promises regarding abortion.

If yesterday Hazte Oír presented its so-called “Brigade for Life” —a deployment composed of a bus, several LED trucks and vans with Abascal's face and the message “Abascal, abortion kills; your inaction too”, accompanied by images of fetuses, the phrase “100,000 silenced heartbeats every year” and an electrocardiogram that evokes the so-called “fetal heartbeat” that Vox ended up withdrawing in Castilla y León—, today the campaign has moved to street-level activism.

During the day massive poster postings and distribution of informative leaflets with the voting guide prepared by the organization have taken place. According to Hazte Oír, thousands of copies have been distributed both by hand and through letterboxes.

Tension at an event of Abascal

The moment of greatest visibility occurred at a public event by Abascal. A few meters from the Vox leader, a Hazte Oír volunteer displayed a large-format poster with the same image and slogan as the bus, bringing the campaign's message directly to the political stage. The organization demands “real, verifiable, and written pro-life measures,” and not just public declarations.

The offensive has provoked an immediate reaction in Vox. In recent hours, various officials and deputies of the party have publicly pointed to Hazte Oír, while on social media —especially on X— the debate has multiplied about the distance between the pro-life discourse of the far-right formation and the absence of concrete legislative initiatives.

In parallel, incidents have also occurred on the ground. Yesterday several volunteers of the organization were identified and, during today's event, the sign was torn from the volunteer who was holding it in front of the attendees.

Under this context, Hazte Oír has confirmed that it will continue with its campaign and that this very afternoon it will carry out a new action in Ponferrada, with more poster postings and distribution of leaflets. The organization assures that it will remain “at the foot of the cannon” throughout the entire campaign in Castilla y León, combining street presence and social mobilization to pressure Vox and demand that it specify in writing the commitments it defends in its speeches.
