The latest barometer from the Centre d'Estudis d'Opinió (CEO) has drawn a new political scenario in Catalonia. Although Salvador Illa's PSC would remain the most voted force, the main novelty of the poll has been the strong advance of Aliança Catalana, which would surpass Junts per Catalunya and would be in a position to dispute the second position with Esquerra Republicana in the Parliament.
The study, presented this Thursday by the director of the CEO, Joan Rodríguez Teruel, and prepared from 2,000 interviews conducted between May 21 and June 25, keeps the PSC as the winner of hypothetical elections, granting it between 36 and 38 seats, below the 42 obtained in the last elections. ERC would reach between 24 and 26 deputies, while Aliança Catalana would experience the largest growth in the barometer, placing itself between 23 and 25 seats. Junts, on the other hand, would suffer the biggest setback of all parties and would fall to a range of between 16 and 18 representatives.
On the non-independence right, the CEO foresees a technical tie between the PP, which would drop from 15 to between 12 and 13 seats, and Vox, which would reach that same range starting from its current 11 deputies. At the other end of the hemicycle, Comuns and the CUP would be tied, with between 4 and 5 seats for each formation.
Illa is emerging as the favorite to lead the Generalitat, according to 18% of respondents who indicate him as their preference, in a context in which the management of his Government receives the endorsement of six out of ten Catalans. Among citizen concerns, access to housing concentrates by far the most attention (28%), well ahead of other issues such as healthcare or education, which barely hover around 8% and 4% respectively.
