The Generalitat government has requested Renfe and Adif to suspend the Rodalies service throughout Catalonia due to a lack of "guarantees" and until the correct operability of the tracks can be ensured. And so it has happened. Adif and Renfe have suspended the circulation of Rodalies trains this Saturday and regional services at the request of the government chaired by Salvador Illa. Specifically, the Catalan Executive has demanded that the activity not resume until safety for passengers and a "minimum" of normality in the service can be guaranteed, in a "sustained manner over time."
In this regard, the Rodalies network was already partially interrupted due to the "exhaustive reviews" being carried out throughout the day at various points along the infrastructure, especially in areas at risk of landslides. Now, the new request was announced this Saturday at a press conference by the **Minister of the Presidency, Albert Dalmau, and the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque,** from the headquarters of the Department of Territory. Both officials also explained that the Catalan government will demand that the Rodalies service be free **"until full normality is restored."**Dalmau stated that "citizens cannot be asked to pay for a service that cannot be provided under adequate conditions" and warned that the next few hours will be complicated. He also pointed out that Renfe and Adif are mobilizing resources to be able to resume the service with guarantees.
