The Bombers de la Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Firefighters) maintain a large search operation in Palau‑Sator (Girona) to locate a man who has disappeared after being swept away along with his vehicle by the municipality's stream, amidst the intense storm of rain and floods affecting the region.

The missing person alert was published at 07:35 this Tuesday via the 112 emergency number, and since then emergency services have been working intensively in the area. The deployed operation includes five fire crews, among which is the underwater Special Operations Group (GRAE) unit to inspect both the surface and the course of the stream.

According to initial reports from 'Europa Press', the man was trapped when his car was caught by the sudden increase in water flow, caused by the continuous rainfall that has kept a large part of the Girona regions on alert since this weekend.

The search device is part of the emergency services' response to the severe storm affecting Catalonia, which has already led to several calls to the fire department, road closures, class suspensions, and recommendations to exercise extreme caution near rivers, streams, and flood-prone areas.

Authorities continue to address the situation as weather conditions evolve and the search remains open.
