Salvador Illa has responded with a direct blow to Alberto Núñez Feijóo: he has told him that he “will never” be president of Spain and has linked his words to an attack on Catalan and the amnesty.
The president of the Generalitat launched his reply this Sunday in a post on X after the leader of the PP defended in an interview in La Vanguardia that one cannot be president of the Government without understanding Catalonia.
A response on X that turns the dispute into a political clash
Illa framed his criticism in a sequence that, in his opinion, makes clear the meaning of Feijóo's message: “First against Catalan, now against the amnesty”. With that formulation, the president interpreted that the popular leader's discourse goes beyond a specific disagreement.
The response, however, does not close the political struggle. Feijóo had remarked in the interview that one cannot aspire to the Presidency of the Government “without understanding, without knowing how to interpret and without having explicit commitments” with Catalonia, a thesis that Illa portrayed as a “curious” way of understanding the relationship with the autonomous community.
