The trains of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya usually boast almost millimeter-perfect punctuality, but this time the controversy has not arrived due to a delay, but precisely for the opposite. A user reported on X that a train heading to Sabadell had departed early from the Sant Cugat del Vallès station, and the official response from FGC ended up becoming a viral phenomenon.

It all began with a post by Ousmane, a traveler who addressed the company directly with a message full of irony: “Your punctuality is very good, but there's no need to depart early either”. According to him, the convoy was supposed to leave the station at 11:48, although he claimed it had departed two minutes earlier, leaving him stranded on the platform.

Ferrocarrils' response was not long in coming. After reviewing the journey data, the company ended up clarifying the situation: “The departure time from Sant Cugat for this train is 11:47 h; indeed, the train departed five seconds before its schedule. Sorry for the inconvenience”. A reply as precise as it was unexpected that quickly began to circulate on social media.

The post already accumulates thousands of views and has caused an avalanche of ironic comments. Many users joked about FGC's level of punctuality, assuring that “not even in Japan” do they control schedules so much or calling the scene “absolutely surreal”. Others took the opportunity to turn the episode into an inevitable comparison with Rodalies.

“Renfe could never do this,” wrote a user. “In Rodalies a butterfly touches the catenary and you already have a 40-minute delay,” another ironized. A large part of the reactions went precisely along that line: in a railway network accustomed to constant incidents and delays, seeing a company apologize for a five-second early departure is almost comical for many passengers.
