Ceuta Ya! lashes out at President Vivas over migration crisis management: "He has prioritized his votes over the future of Ceuta"

Ceuta Ya!, the regionalist left-wing party of the autonomous city, has demanded this Friday that the Government change the current "correlation of forces" with Morocco after the massive entry of migrants on July 30 and 31. The party considers that the relationship between both countries has left Ceuta and Melilla in a position of weakness that harms their interests.

Three weeks after those events, Ceuta Ya! describes what happened as an "unprecedented upheaval" that has profoundly altered the daily life of the city. Its diagnosis points to a "deformed" bilateral relationship, in which the two autonomous cities lack the necessary weight to demand due respect from Rabat.

The party advocates for good relations with Morocco, although it rejects that they serve to maintain an "evident asymmetry". For this reason, it directs its claim to the central Executive, responsible for foreign policy, and asks for measures that reduce Ceuta's vulnerability to future pressures.

Vivas and the Government, singled out

Ceuta Ya! has also expressed its "most energetic rejection" of the management of the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas. It accuses him of abandoning the unity initially agreed upon among the Assembly groups and turning "a problem of Ceuta into an argument at the service of the national Popular Party."

"He has prioritized his votes over the future of Ceuta," states the party, which considers that some statements by the local Executive have encouraged behaviors detrimental to coexistence. Its reproaches also extend to the central Government for the "inconceivable slowness" with which, in its opinion, it has deployed the necessary resources.

The Executive announced this Friday that Ángel Víctor Torres will coordinate the five ministries involved in the response to the crisis. Ceuta Ya! demands that administrations act with greater speed and intensity, respecting human rights and legal procedures.

The regionalist left also denounces that the City Government has resisted providing basic services to people who remain on the street. It rejects the "ethics of cruelty" that means treating them worse to accelerate their departure and considers it especially serious to leave humanitarian aid in the hands of the will of the neighbors.

Ceuta Ya! defends that those who entered during those days leave the city through the procedures provided by Spanish and European laws. Until each file is resolved, it demands accommodation, food, and healthcare for those who remain homeless.

The party warns that the combination of citizen discontent and administrative deficiencies can crack coexistence. Its latest request is addressed to all State institutions, to which it demands structural measures to protect the Spanishness of Ceuta and end a vulnerability that "very seriously threatens our future".
