This Thursday, the Civil Guard of Ceuta has found two more bodies, in the area of the border breakwater where more than 70,000 people accessed from Morocco on July 30. Therefore, the number of deceased increases to 82, the people recovered on the coast of Ceuta.

Now an autopsy will be performed on them, and once done, the Criminalistics service of the Civil Guard sends the digitized fingerprints for identification. Biological samples are also collected to be able to compare them with relatives and for there to be another possible way to identify the deceased. "There are two people identified through fingerprints, since they were registered in Spain, while identification by biological methods, direct comparison between DNA of relatives of six deceased, is awaited," said the Civil Guard.

The 82 bodies have been received by the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) of Ceuta, after the discovery this Thursday of two more bodies, and 80 autopsies have been performed and four of the deceased identified. In a statement, the IML highlighted that forensic doctors have performed a total of 80 autopsies, four people have been identified and the autopsy of the two bodies found this Thursday is scheduled for tomorrow.

Also, forensic doctors and the Criminalistics service of the Civil Guard have collected biological samples and fingerprints from all the bodies found in the sea, and two people have already been identified through fingerprints, because they were already registered in Spain and two bodies have also already been identified through biological studies. In addition, identification by biological methods by the Criminalistics Service of the Civil Guard of four other deceased is awaited.

However, before that, the Court should endorse the identity of these people, whether they have been identified by fingerprints or by biological methods, and to be able to identify the rest, they will have to send the fingerprint data to Morocco for possible recognition.
