The president of Ceuta demands the Government declare "national emergency" due to the migratory crisis: "We are in a situation of absolute humanitarian and social emergency"

The president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas has launched this Thursday during an interview on 'Onda Cero' and 'Cadena Ser, a "cry for help" to the Sánchez Executive to declare a "national emergency" due to the increase in the flow of migrants entering the country every day. As he has reported, in recent years the entry flow has exceeded 1,500 people, and currently around 300 people arrive in the city every day. "To give you an idea in the rest of Spain, it is the equivalent of 2% of the entire population of Ceuta. As if a million people entered Spain irregularly," he pointed out. 

Vivas has expressed his concern about this situation, which he considers "is one of absolute humanitarian and social emergency." He also highlighted that just this Wednesday more than 800 migrants of Moroccan and Algerian origin, have tried to enter the community irregularly. Likewise, he has attributed this migratory pressure to the "fact of being the only land and sea border along with Melilla that Spain and Europe have in Africa," which is why he considers the involvement of the European Union necessary. 

For this reason, the Ceuta president has asked the Government to assume "unified command" and offer an urgent response that includes "forceful actions" that can effectively respond to a situation of "this magnitude and nature." "And I hope that request, without fail, has found understanding," he stressed. 

Likewise, Vivas has pointed out several priority fronts such as "the saturation in reception centers" for adults and minors, greater economic support from the State to strengthen collaboration with Morocco, and the increase in security forces. He has also asked for the modification of the Immigration Law proposed by the PP, considering that it presents a "loophole" that favors the entry of migrants.
