Thousands of Ceutians gather at the Government Delegation headquarters to demand the expulsion of migrants and political resignations

In front of the headquarters of the Government Delegation in the autonomous city, this Wednesday thousands of Ceutans gathered to demand the expulsion of the immigrants who currently remain on the city's streets. They also gathered to demand the resignation of political leaders in another new protest in Ceuta with much tension and frustration after almost a month of crisis.

The citizens who gathered raised their voices against the Government and against its delegate in Ceuta, Miguel Ángel Pérez Triano, demanding his departure, in addition to calling for the resignation of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. Furthermore, the demonstrators expressed their weariness with a situation that, for them, continues to affect the daily life of the city, with thousands of migrants still in different parts of Ceuta and incidents related to fights and altercations that have increased the feeling of insecurity among part of the population.

This demonstration is taking place after the Government finally concretized the designation of a single command to coordinate the response to the crisis, a demand that the autonomous city had been raising for weeks. Another reason was that on Tuesday it was also learned the Executive's intention to enable locations to temporarily concentrate migrants who remain on public roads, facilitate their identification and carry out the corresponding triage, as a preliminary step to determine the individual situation of each one and activate, when appropriate, the return or expulsion procedures provided by law.

For their part, the demonstrators reject the possibility that these resources be placed near residential areas, schools, or in spaces where they could disrupt the normality of the neighborhoods. They have also demanded that the announced measures allow for a quick and effective solution to a situation they believe is unsustainable. This latest mobilization has revealed the level of social tension currently experienced in Ceuta, a place where protests have become routine since everything began, with almost daily gatherings in front of the Government Delegation.
