The Popular Party and Vox have closed a programmatic agreement in Extremadura that paves the way for the investiture of María Guardiola as president of the Junta. The pact includes measures in terms of health, taxation and social policies, but also incorporates proposals promoted by Vox, such as the priority of “Spaniards” in access to certain public services.
Among the agreed points, both parties advocate for strengthening the healthcare system, reducing taxes, and reviewing policies related to immigration. In this regard, the document includes the rejection of what Vox calls “demographic replacement policies”, a concept common in the discourse of the party led by Santiago Abascal and which has generated controversy in the political debate.
The agreement comes after weeks of negotiations and unblocks a situation of institutional uncertainty in Extremadura, where the first investiture attempt failed due to the lack of support from Vox.
