The forest fire declared in the A Coruña municipality of Padrón continues out of control and has already devastated nearly 300 hectares, which has led the Consellería do Medio Rural to activate Situation 2 due to the risk posed by the flames to several inhabited areas of the Carcacía parish.
The situation forced the complete evacuation of the Cruxeiras de Abaixo area during Saturday, while emergency teams worked to protect homes and prevent the fire from reaching new populated areas. The flames have also crossed municipal boundaries and are advancing towards the municipality of Teo.
Although during the morning it seemed that the fire was evolving favorably, strong wind gusts and high temperatures reactivated some fronts, complicating extinction efforts. In addition, authorities have ordered the closure of several roads in the area to ensure the safety of residents and emergency services.
Dozens of brigades, forest agents, fire engines, aerial resources, and technical personnel from the Xunta are participating in the operation, reinforced by resources sent by the Ministry for Ecological Transition. The personnel are working intensely to contain the advance of the fire and minimize damage in one of the largest forest emergencies recorded in Galicia in recent weeks.
