Enma López explained this Thursday on 'La Hora de La 1' the reasons that led her to present her candidacy for the Mayor's Office of Madrid. The socialist leader assured that she made the decision after listening for years to the militancy and affirmed that she perceives "a wave of enthusiasm" among those who demand a change in the city.
"I believe it is great news that there are profiles and people who are interested in stepping forward, in inspiring the people of Madrid," she said. In addition, she affirmed that the response received since she announced her intention to run in the primaries has been very positive: "There is a wave of enthusiasm, there is a desire for change, there are many people in Madrid eager to be inspired." As she explained, she takes this step after "for more than four years" numerous militants asked her to take on that challenge.

López wanted to make it clear that her candidacy does not intend to confront anyone within the party and praised the work done by Reyes Maroto in recent years. "This is not against anyone. Primaries are a path where what we want is to take steps forward," she affirmed, before insisting that now is the time to broaden the scope of the socialist project and connect with new neighborhoods and voter profiles.
In that sense, she defended the need to "communicate in a different way," with "that more modern way of communicating" and greater capacity to reach areas where the PSOE obtains better results in general elections than in municipal elections. She also highlighted the primary system, recalling cases such as those of Pedro Sánchez or Álvaro Sánchez Cotrina, and assured that this process represents "a very important exercise of party openness and democracy". "I wish other political parties could choose between such good profiles," concluded the councilor.
