The institutional conflict in Móstoles has escalated after the announcement by the mayor, Manuel Bautista, of filing a lawsuit against the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, for alleged violation of honor. The mayor considers that Martín inappropriately used the Local Security Board, a body focused on police coordination, to launch personal accusations related to the judicial case affecting him, which he describes as a partisan use of a public institution.
According to municipal sources, Bautista criticizes that the meeting should have focused exclusively on citizen security issues, such as the planning of operations or the analysis of criminality, and not on judicial matters. For this reason, he understands that the delegate's statements constitute an “illegitimate intrusion” into his honor and a deviation from the institutional objective of the meeting, reason for which he has decided to go to court.
For his part, Francisco Martín has maintained a firm position and has intensified his criticisms, pointing out that the mayor will have to give “many explanations” before Justice. The delegate has insisted that the mayor's situation is incompatible with the position, demanding his resignation after the admission for processing of a complaint for alleged crimes of sexual harassment, workplace harassment, coercion among others. In this way, he has also pointed out the political responsibility of leaders of the Partido Popular such as Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Isabel Díaz Ayuso for keeping Bautista in the position.
