Óscar López demands Ayuso's resignation after it was revealed she visited the penthouse: "They have been lying for a long time"

The general secretary of the PSOE of Madrid, Óscar López, has demanded the immediate resignation of Isabel Díaz Ayuso after it became known that the president personally visited the luxury penthouse acquired by Planifica Madrid. For the socialist leader, this new data shows that the regional government has been hiding information about the operation for weeks.

"The huge penthouse was so much for her that she personally went to visit it," López denounced. The also Minister for Digital Transformation has contrasted that visit with the explanations offered by Ayuso, who on August 5 assured that she had "not the slightest idea" of the details of the purchase.

"Why have they hidden it until now? Why did she say she had 'not the slightest idea'?" López asked. His conclusion was blunt. "They have been lying for a long time. Ayuso must resign, she cannot continue as president for another minute," he wrote on his social networks.

The offensive adds to the statements that the PSOE-M leader made this same Wednesday in an interview with 'El País'. López then maintained that it was "evident" that the regional Executive was buying "an apartment for Mrs. Ayuso" and denounced the use of public resources in an operation that he considers surrounded by opacity.

The socialist leader also assured that the Madrid government had gotten "into a very serious problem". The PSOE-M has requested the purchase documentation from the Madrid Assembly, transparency bodies, and the courts to find out who commissioned the search, how the home was chosen, and what its intended use actually was.

Más Madrid has joined the criticism after the visit became known. Its spokesperson in the Assembly, Manuela Bergerot, ironized that Ayuso "first said she knew nothing, but she had already gone to take measurements for the furniture and the garage space". The party has already requested to appear as a popular prosecution in the judicial case opened for the purchase.

The contradictions denounced by López

The information advanced this Wednesday by 'El País' indicates that Ayuso went to the penthouse in June or early July, when Planifica Madrid had already paid 6.3 million euros for it. Her entourage maintains that it was to study the possibility of temporarily moving her office there during the works of the Real Casa de Correos.

The acknowledgment has come after several weeks of evasions. Asked by 'ElConstitucional.es' about when the visit took place and why the president went to the property, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez first replied "No idea" and then admitted that "I don't know that". The Chief of Staff ended up assuring that Ayuso "will explain herself".

Rodríguez had previously dismissed this newspaper's questions with a "I don't give a damn about this story". Meanwhile, the operation continues under investigation by Instruction Court number 8 of Madrid after several complaints for possible crimes of embezzlement, prevarication, and disloyal administration.

Planifica Madrid has now put the property up for sale for 6.69 million euros, almost 400,000 more than what it paid in April. Óscar López believes that Ayuso's personal visit finally dismantles the explanations offered during the summer and maintains a direct demand for the Madrid president. "She must resign".
