Positive news in the Sierra Oeste de Madrid fire: second consecutive night without any reactivation being registered

The fire that has ravaged the Sierra Oeste area of the Community of Madrid has passed its second consecutive night without registering reactivations, so the Operational Situation 2 of the Special Civil Protection Emergency Plan for Forest Fires in the Community of Madrid (INFOMA) remains activated, as reported by Emergencias 112 Madrid on its social media.

During the night, 16 ground crews made up of Firefighters from the Community of Madrid, Forest Firefighters, and Forest Agents continued working, carrying out surveillance and monitoring of the perimeter to prevent possible reproductions. However, despite the positive evolution of the fire, traffic remains cut on the M-957 road between kilometer points 0 and 5.750, while extinction and surveillance efforts continue in the area. In addition, authorities also remind that swimming and the use of recreational boats in the San Juan Reservoir and on Alberche Beach remain prohibited as a safety measure.

Regarding cleanup, the regional government has reported that 362 cubic meters of retrieved belongings and debris, equivalent to 60 containers, have been collected. In addition to 770 m3 of removed plant waste, equivalent to 128 containers, and there are 65 containers installed in the affected municipalities, 73 replaced trash cans, and 20 machines and trucks.

200 kilometers of road network affected by the fires have been inspected, and citizen service offices and help points continue, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Villa del Prado, Pelayos de la Presa, San Martín de Valdeiglesias, Robledo de Chavela, and Chapinería, and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Villa del Prado, San Martín de Valdeiglesias, Fresnedillas de la Oliva, Navas del Rey, and Aldea del Fresno. Furthermore, the Empleabús will be in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and this week it will also arrive in Aldea del Fresno, Pelayos de la Presa, and Fresnedillas de la Oliva.

Finally, fiber optic connections have been restored in all municipalities affected by the fire, except in Navas del Rey and Chapinería, while mobile coverage is functioning normally. In addition, the municipalities that requested it have been supported with satellite internet connection antennas to ensure they can continue to function normally.
